Philly Hare is a director at Innovations in Dementia, having previously been a Programme Manager at Joseph Rowntree Foundation where she oversaw their major programme Dementia without Walls. She is also an Exchange Fellow at the University of Edinburgh.
With 2017 seeing the UK submission to the Committee on Dementia of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Philly’s presentation looked the central role human rights needs to play in dementia policy and beyond. In addition, numerous projects were highlighted where a rights-based approach is helping to empower, enabling people living with dementia to set the agenda and so act as a “lever for change”.
