Sandra Shafii is one of the four Scottish National Allied Health Professional (AHP) Consultants for Dementia. Based in NHS Lanarkshire, her role is to support the Allied Health Professions across Scotland in the contributions they make to implementing Scotland's National Dementia Strategy. After a period working in customer care, Sandra graduated as an Occupational Therapist in 1985. Her first job was in Social Work Services, after which she moved into the NHS to follow a career in mental health. She has worked both as a General Manager and as a Lead Clinician, with expertise in service and clinical development, and her experience covers a wide range of specialities in adult and older adult care settings, in hospital and in the community. She is an accredited Lean Leader. Together with Alzheimer Scotland’s Locality Manager for Lanarkshire, Sandra has played a key role in developing Motherwell Town Centre into a Dementia Friendly Community.
