Richard Coyne is Professor of Architectural Computing at the University of Edinburgh. He is a Co-Investigator on Mobility, Mood and Place (MMP), a £1.6m, multidisciplinary study exploring the mechanisms between older people, place and emotions / memories, in part using EEG technology.
Richard is part of the Digital Media Design Research Group at Edinburgh, focusing on digital media and its impact on people’s lives. He is a regular blogger and has published widely. His books include The Tuning of Place - Sociable Spaces and Pervasive Digital Media, published by MIT Press in 2010.
A registered architect in his native Australia, Richard has previously worked at the Universities of Sydney and Melbourne. He is a Member of the Higher Education Academy and sits on the editorial board of arq: Architectural Research Quarterly.
