John Keady is Professor of Older People’s Mental Health Nursing at the University of Manchester. His post is jointly funded by Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, with a clinical base at the Meadowbrook Unit, Hope Hospital, Salford.
John is founding Co-editor of Dementia: the international journal of social research and practice. He is a member of INTERDEM: the European forum for early intervention in dementia, Alzheimer's Disease International, the Alzheimer's Society and the International Risk Network.
John trained as a mental health nurse and held a number of clinical appointments before moving into academia. His research is largely qualitative, involving studies of early awareness and adjustment, family coping, palliative care and professional roles. He has published widely.
