Ann Pascoe is a caregiver and founder of Dementia Friendly Communities, a Community Interest Company which works with local services and businesses in East Sutherland, Scotland, to make the region more dementia-friendly, to increase local opportunities for people with dementia and to heighten empathy and support for dementia carers.
Ann’s became a passionate campaigner on behalf of families affected by dementia when her husband Andrew was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2006 and she became his carer. She is a member of Alzheimer Scotland’s National Dementia Carers Action Network (NDCAN) and a Trustee for the Life Changes Trust.
Ann regularly speaks at national and international conferences. In March 2012, she was awarded a Travelling Fellowship from the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust to undertake research in India on dementia awareness in rural communities and also to attend the Alzheimer’s Disease International Conference in Taipei in April 2013.
