Dr Andrew Clark is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology within the School of Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work & Social Sciences at the University of Salford. He has held post-doctoral teaching and research posts at the University of St Andrews, The Open University and the University of Leeds. At the heart of Andrew’s work is a demonstrable commitment to inter- and trans-disciplinary research activity, and the benefits these can bring to understanding ‘real world’ problems and issues, including dementia care. His theoretically informed, empirical research explores the relationships between marginalization and the spatiality of social life. Andrew has particular expertise in research into neighbourhoods, wellbeing, community, belonging and urban change. In his work in this area, he builds on longstanding interests in social networks and social exclusion. He is also interested in the role of universities in community engagement, and ways of producing collaborative knowledge
